Michigan Dem — and CSI Actor — Claims Biden Losing Votes to ‘Uncommitted’ Movement Could Help Him: ‘Folks Are Angry’

Former CSI: NY and Good Doctor actor Hill Harper is running for a Senate seat in Michigan, and the Democrat is supportive of the “uncommitted” movement, in which voters in the state have pushed for not supporting President Joe Biden in Tuesday’s primary over his support of Israel in the Israel-Hamas war.

Appearing with Laura Coates on CNN a day ahead of the primary vote, Harper would not say how he would be voting, but he did argue that activists in Michigan — which has one of the largest Muslim and Arab American populations in the country — are sending a “message” to Biden and the Democratic establishment that could give him the “best” chance at winning in November.

“We need to make sure we get President Biden back in the White House, but I believe that the Listen to Michigan movement and the uncommitted vote will be relatively significant from the standpoint of the folks I’ve talked to all over the state,” he said.

Comparatively, Harper predicted low turnout for Black voters, arguing the Democratic establishment has left them “unrepresented” with mostly white representatives in Congress from the state. He knocked frontrunner Rep. Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) as not a candidate who will motivate that blocking voc to go to the polls.

On the “uncommitted” movement, Harper said, “Folks are suffering, folks are angry,” and if the numbers of Democrats in the state avoiding Biden ends up being significant, it gives Democrats eight months before the election to “get their stuff together.”

Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) is among the activists supporting Michigan’s “uncommitted” movement. She previously accused Biden of supporting a “genocide” in Gaza.

During a late night appearance with Seth Meyers, Biden warned that Israel will “lose support from around the world” if they continue down their current path.

In response to the Oct. 7 attack that left more than 1,000 dead and hundreds kidnapped, Israel began striking Gaza. The strikes have led to tens of thousands of civilian deaths. Biden and administration have been critical of Israel’s tactics but remained supportive of their right to defend themselves. Biden said he’s negotiating a ceasefire he hopes will be in place by Monday, saying on Monday things are “close, but not done yet.”
